All About Trophies

Everyone loves trophies! There are currently 269 different trophies available in myGo! Some of these have a version for each gender like The Playmaker. You as a player can win a wide array of hardware.

Once you've won a trophy you can display in in your trophy case and of course, comment (or chalk talk) on your own and other's trophies.

This page explains a bit about trophies and the rules for how they're distributed. The subareas on the left allow you to see all 269 trophies available, the history of the myGo leader awards and see how many people have won each trophy, giving you a clue as to how hard the trophy is to win.

myGo Monthlies
The myGo Monthlies are given out a few days after the end of each month to the man and woman who have provided to most assists, scored the most goals or earned the most cleansheets across the entire site. We give a short grace period to fill out match reports for managers who end up with the dreaded 11pm indoor match.
Player of the Match
At the end of each match a "Player of the Match" poll is started. Each Coach or person who played in the match gets one vote for the player of the match. Four days later a trophy will be awarded tot he player(s) with the most votes.
Participation
We learned as a kid that at the end of the season. . . everyone gets a trophy! Well, that's almost true. You must play in more than 1/2 of the team's games to win a participation trophy for the season. If you've played in every match for the season you will also earn The Iron Man/Woman.
The myGo Boot
Think you can take the myGo Boot? The myGo Boot, myGo Ball and myGo gloves are awarded to the person who has scored the most goals all-time in myGo.
Match based awards
Some trophies are specifically earned for match based accomplishments. Examples of this are The Broken Duck, awarded when someone has Broken Their Duck*. The Waddling Kiwi and Goose Egg serve the same purpose for Assists and Clean Sheets. Others that are a bit tougher to win include, The Number 10, for a player who scores a goal and provides an assist in outdoor, or two goals and two assists in indoor. The Plunderer is awarded to a player who scores five goals in a single match.
We do want to encourage players to play with class though. Don't be the guy so hungry for trophies and stats that you forget that the game is supposed to be fun!
Team Leader Awards
Three trophies team-leader trophies can be won for goals and assists for single gender squads and up to six for coed squads. First, The Finisher, Goal Monger and StrikeForce are awarded to the top three goal scorers on the team. If the team's coed, The Hammer, CrackShot and Opportunist will be awarded to the top three of each gender. The top three overalls trump the gender specific though.
For example, if a woman is the top goal scoring female on the team and second overall then that person will get the second overall (Goal Monger), not the top female (The Hammer).
We've also added a limitation that a person must tally at least two goals or assists in order to be awarded a goal leader award.
League Leader Awards
League leader awards will only be given out in leagues where there is more than one team that is active in myGo. League leaders are not divided into gender and the top three for each statistic will receive the appropriate trophies.
League Leader Awards for Teams
Team Leader Trophies are given out, but managers have the opportunity to exchange them as needed. We understand that since participation isn't mandatory that it's unlikely we have all the statistics needed to calculate exactly which team has scored the second most goals in the league. Therefore, managers can choose which trophy they want on the honor system. Three trophies are distributed to the three teams that score the most goals and the three that give up the least.
Taking Back Trophies
As a general guideline, myGo does not take back trophies that have been inappropriately awarded. . . . if it's our fault. Examples of this would be a code problem giving someone a hat-trick when they didn't earn it. If someone is less than honest with their match reports, then we reserve the right to strip hardware. You didn't really score 3,992,298 goals in that match! We did accidentally once auto-close four leagues inappropriately and gave out league leaders, team awards and participation trophies only halfway through the season, so we took those back. That's an example of why we'd do something like that.
Retro-active trophies
We try to add trophies fairly regularly, such as The Number 10. We do not retroactively award trophies. If you accomplished the task of winning the trophy last October, but the trophy wasn't released until December, then you'll just have to do it again.
Got an idea?
Have a good idea for a new trophy? Let me know at The Webmaster and I'll see what I can do. No guarantees, but if you've got a good one then I'll see what I can do to put it up. Remember, they have to be something measureable in myGo.
